I love this country, and i can never imagine living anywhere else in the world, it would really be so difficult for me.
Having some bad things that i don’t like is a different story, we don’t live in a Utopia.
The list below will include 50 things i Hate about Egypt and another 50 Things i Love about Egypt, i will update it Daily
Please comment below if you have ideas\suggestions on what to be added\edited on the list.
- Driving at 3:00am from Lebanon Square to Nasr City in less than 15mins
Driving at 3:00pm from Lebanon Square to Nasr City in more than 2 hours. - Cairo at night
Cairo after noon - Kids, teenagers and sometimes mens harassing girls in the streets thinking it’s *Funny*
Other people beating the crap out of them for harassing the girls
- Delicious food (Molokheya, mesa2a3a, ro2a2, fattah, bamya
)
People defacing ads, writing on walls and engraving trees with their names (e.g. zle7′a te7eb 3ashour) - People staring at you from other cars
Old buildings in down town, zamalek, masr el gedida and Baron Castle
- Bedouin people, how simple their life is
Bedouin people, how the government treat them - Military police soldiers standing everywhere doing nothing, 24 hours, 7 days a week (any ideas what they are supposed to do)
How people can change(mod) everything to suit their needs (remember el motocyle el Jawa and how the attached a huge box at the end for transportation?
Sharing a 256Kbps DSL with 10 neighbors) - Someone giving misleading directions,just so he doesn’t say “I don’t know”
Someone taking you to the place you asked for, though it’s not in his direction - Streets of Cairo!
The Corniche of Alex, and Ein Sukhna road (i did 200KMpH on this one
) - Someone spending a fortune on a cellphone with a camera while he can barely afford to eat
The huge number of people gathered around “3arabeyet el foul” having breakfast in the morning - City Stars (za7ma beta7′alof)
City Stars (it’s very elegant)
- Schools and education
Sweeeeeeeets!!!! konafa & basbousa bel eshtaaaa, lo2met el 2ady (zalabya) and Zeinab’s Fingers :p !!
yummy - The huge number of people gathered around “3arabeyet el foul” having breakfast in the morning
Blocking traffic for hours when someone *important* is passing - Buildings in Zamalek, some areas of Downtown, Korba and Roxy
Ugly Buildings everywhere else - Fresh baladi bread

Parking - Linking every occasion with food (sham nessim renga w fesi7′, 3id kebir la7ma, 3id so3′ayar ka7k, mouled el naby sweets, etc)
people who guide you for parking (menady) - How happy people be when they win anything (even if it’s useless) and when they appear on TV
people blocking the streets to reserve their own private parking spots - You can be friends with most of people working\living in your street\area
Finishing any government related papers - They would stand by you at anytime (khena2a, sawa2 taxi rekhem, 7ad 3akes okhtak) even if they barely know you (and maybe just saw you once or twice in the area before)
People saying “kol sana wenta tayeb”, while there is no *obvious* occasion (other than sucking your money) - No one throw anything EVER!!! Anything could be fixed
Beggars (wenaby ya beh, ba2aly talat senen makaltesh) - How clean everything can be in minutes when someone *important* is coming
How fast it goes to waste after he’s gone - That guy around the corner selling news paper at 4:00am in the street
People interpreting religion in ways serving their own agenda, AND SPREADING IT! - Coffe shops and Shisha places (imagine the number! it’s a Shisha for every Egyptian
)
Stupid TV shows (Local TV channels, ANYTIME) - Nile Fm! (These guys are hilarious)
Stupid radio shows (ezayak ya 2ousama?) - Sinai (Dahab, Taba, Sharm and all the other great places out there)
People crossing the streets randomly without looking - Felouka ride at night or at sunset
People throwing garbage from their cars - How friendly people are on the streets
People throwing garbage everywhere in the city - You are able to walk safely in *almost* anywhere in the city at anytime of the day
Pollution - 24 hours food shops
Public transportation - You can find a place to hangout at anytime (even 5:00am)
You can never find a queue - You will find people in the streets and in cars at anytime of the day
If there is a queue, there must be people trying to pass it - Walking in Masr el Gedida (Korba specially)
Cars\buses blowing dust and smoke in your face\window - Old buildings in down town, zamalek, masr el gedida and Baron Castle
Officers (fel legan and kamayen – لجنة و كمين) harassing you to get a bribe - Breakfast time in Ramadan
Ugly buildings (what was they thinking when they painted the building in FUSHIA) - How good people try to behave in Ramadan
All the stupid TV shows and series in Ramadan - Family reunions in Ramadan (visits, breakfast together, praying together etc)
Work in Ramadan (lazy, sleeping and nothing gets done) - Actually believing that “Masr om El Donya – مصر أم الدنيا”
How bad they behave just right after Ramadan ends (el wa2fa, for all of you guys, you know what i mean
) - The taxi driver who stick with you and help you as much as he can until you reach your destination, though none of you know the exact address
The taxi driver who tries to take a longer way to make you pay more if he senses you don’t know the way - Sharing a 256Kbps DSL with 10 neighbors)
Calling an ambulance or police (according to someone i heard, KFC home delivery responds faster, so next time you need help, call KFC) - El mokattam, kobry el matar, el da2ery
Smelly people (does soap and shower trigger anything in your mind?) - Kiosks around every corner (net2abel 3and el koshk)
Military police soldiers standing everywhere doing nothing, 24 hours, 7 days a week (any ideas what they are supposed to do) - How every generation think their older days was better (I think that, my parents think that and my grand parents have the same feeling – ayam makan kilo el la7ma be 5 ta3reefa)
Advertising (Cream 7amada le toul w nemou el sha3r. El cream el 3ageeb lel regal fakat. الجهاز السحرى للتخسيس……مكرونة بيانكو) - Bazilique church (not sure of the spelling, Basilica?) كنيسة البازيليك
Harassing tourists at the pyramids (and everywhere) - Old cairo, citadel, Amr Ibn El Aas, Kenisa mo3alaka and this area
Mimicking(copy cat) western culture (gangasta stlye,wazzup d000d!RNB! and many other things) - بياعين الفل فى الإشارات(i buy *LOTS*these whenever i see them!)
You have to bargain(تفاصل) when buying anything or service (مشيها ب15)

I’m making a presentation about Egypt. Looks like i’lll be stealing some of those
one of the things i hate is the the people who smoke in public places and transportation , claiming that his hand is out side (and where the hill is your mouth ) .
