Places in Egypt

This is a list of places and things i love to do in Cairo

  • Felouka ride in mohandessin (in front of FourSeasons hote) just get your food(if you’re hungry) and go, they got the drinks there, there is WIFI too!!! tell the guy to stop the felouka in front of the four seasons and you will have wifi on your laptop,, i used to finish my graduation project there! it cost 30le for the small boat and 40le for the big one

    felouka

  • Mokattam….the top of it, where you can see the whole Cairo…the shisha is not so great, the chairs are not so comfy, prices are not cheap(compared to what they offer) but the atmosphere and the view will make you forget everything..it will cost around 10le for a shisha and a cup of tea with mint (dont try fancy stuff like MilkShake) either choose tea or bottled stuff (coke, pepsi, fayrouz, water)
  • Mokattam, but the other side :) (men mad7′al el tare2 el da2ery, ely wara, 3alatol ba3d al makaber, fe awel shemal) if you prefer being lonely, you will not sit in a cafe or anything, you will sit on the rocks, there is this guy serving tea for 1le. its so quiet. (momken tegeb el mozza w……tewareha sa3tak ely betnawar fel dalma-shame on you, what did you think?)
  • La Casetta…. what can i say?AMAZING food, i usually go la caseeta in Heliopolis(midan heliopolis, 3and kabab Shaker) or Nasr City(near Genena Mall), try the steak with white sauce and mushroom on a nice romantic dinner, the service is very friendly too. A nice dinner would cost around 50-90Le depending on what you eat.
  • 55 a.k.a Villa 55 in road 9 in maadi,,, very nice place, it was a good villa someday, now its a good restaurant and cafe :) you can just sit in the garden for tea and shisha, or you could sit inside and watch your food being made “LIVE”, or just order from the “a la carte” menu in the french restaurant.
  • El madyafa….its a…..hmmm.. i dont know what to call it….2ahwa balady,, “folks cafe” ? in masaken sheraton…its nice, not much buildings around it, you sit in an open air area, they have a huge variety of beverages and food(if your stomach supports it) nice shisha, and WIFI!!!! prices are really good. its a good experience, am usually there everyday, give me a shout if you go :)
  • Aboul Sid…. experience real egyptian food, the best “molokheya” i have ever tasted…. try this: “Molekheya with meat balls (koftet dawoud) + vine leaves (wara2 3enab)” its amazing, excellent shisha, omm ali is not bad at all too…. prices are moderate-expensive,,,
  • Taba….what can i say, heaven on earth, great beach, VERY calm and quiet, amazing view, mountains, desert, diving, good food, chicks, ***** (things i cant mention publicly, i’ll tell u privately ;) ) i usually stay in Tarek’s camp, the prices are great, service is excellent, place is nice with Hammocks, parties at night (tareks phone is: 012-10-81189) its only 440KM from cairo… stay \night is 20le,,, a meal is 20-40 le a drink or water is almost 5le,,the cost per day is 100-120le check pictures here http://www.flickr.com/photos/7558784@N08/
  • Sunrise in taba

  • Trianon – AzharPark, there is NOWAY you miss that, the view is amazing, order the following: “Chicken Ceaser salad, Chicken Cream Soup and a drink of your choice” believe me, it’s amazing, you will not believe yourself. Trianon is located on a hill in Azhar Park, you can view the whole Cairo, the Citadel and Mokattam too. The place is surrounded by water and small fountains. The price is average, 50le or less.
  • El Shar2awy kebda w mo7′ w gambary…..(that was liver, brain and shrimps) this is some local food we’re talking here, it tasted amazing (some people may disagree, but its my opinion that matters! :P ) the place is very small, and dont expect something fancy, but it’s very tasty, very cheap and it brings you the feel of the 80’s with the old buildings around you, and metal plates and cups. (PS: dont forget to ask for “Whiskey” its the “egytian salad water” a.k.a Mayet Salata)
  • Lucille’s – Maadi, just opposite to Villa 55 in road 9, the place is not huge, but it’s enough, waiters are friendly, and we were the only Egyptians dining at the restaurant :) !!! The place is famous for the burgers, my friends tried it and said it was excellent, i tried “Fried Beef Steak” the plate cost 49LE, comes with a soup or salad of your choice, sautéed and French fries or mached potatoes, the portion is good, the meat was not excellent, but it wasn’t bad at all, the drinks are refill they cost 7LE per cup and IT IS HUGE! (they do not accept credit cards ;) )
  • Buddha Bar (a.k.a Little Buddha) in Sofitel El Gezira, Cairo….very nice place, great music, excellent lighting and couches, but VERY expensive (minimum charge 250LE, expect to pay up to 500LE per person if you’re going to eat too) you can read a full review here
